Pre-requisites: Successful completion of Begining and Intermediate Tech and Teacher recommendation
Congratulations! As a Proficient Technical Theater student at Independence High School you are now a technician. This is an honors level class and as such you will be expected to perform honors level work. Students will explore designs for various plays or concepts in the areas of Set design, Costume Design, and Lighting Design. This class will use these concepts for multiple venue types as well as multiple styles of play.
There is a Crew Requirement for this class! Technicians are expected to supervise Board Ops for events in the Pit Auditorium at Indy for events!
Students are REQUIERED to complete (2) formal play critiques. One of which must be our Spring Musical!
Students will focus on the history, vocabulary, responsibilities, and methods practiced by design and production staff. Students will experience hands on training with various tools found in the theater workplace. This course is designed for a lot of hands-on projects where the students will learn by doing. The students will be using equipment that can be dangerous if not properly handled. Safety is the first priority in everything we do in class or while working on productions.
Formal Grades = 70% Informal Grades=30%
Technical Projects, designs and Tests Homework, group participation, STRIKE!
Homework/Make-up work/Late work
Homework is due at the beginning of class. If the student is absent it is their responsibility to request work missed and make up that work within 2 business days. Ten points will be deducted from the students’ grade for every business day the assignment is late up to days. On the sixth day the assignment will receive a grade of 0.

- Additional Model Making Equipment and Materials as needed
- Safety Contract (This will be explained in class, signed by student and then signed by parent. This must be signed to participate in class!!!!)
