About Intermediate Tech....Intermediate Technical Theater is a more intense introductory course for students with somewhat limited technical theater experience. Students will focus on the history, vocabulary, responsibilities, and methods practiced by production staff. Students will experience hands on training with various tools found in the theater workplace. This course is designed for a lot of hands-on projects where the students will learn by doing. As with our beginning tech class, the students will be using equipment that can be dangerous if not properly handled. Safety is the first priority in everything we do in class or while working on productions. The first couple of weeks of class we will learn visit set design methods. This class will be responsible for the design and build of our NCTC show. We then learn about technical hand drafting for the theater. each student will build their own data base for stage management before learning about new software available in the market place. During costuming students will learn to use and create patterns, learn to hand stitching and basic use of a sewing machine. We will look further into lighting design before building on our scenic painter skills with new projects. Students are encourage to see four shows this year outside of Indy and will be required to serve on crew for our arts performances. Students MUST have permission from DILLS to take this course!
